At game four of the Stanley Cup Western Semi-Final, in a fit of patriotic
fervour, I submitted 3 images to an Edmonton Oilers fan site, named above. The
resulting rush of traffic has surpassed anything I have experienced in the 8 years
this site has been on the net. As a thank you to the fans, and to the fine kids over
at Bluemile.ca, I am building my own little Oiler shrine. I am old enough to recall
the glory days of the first dynasty, and it is a joy to watch Kevin Lowe, Craig McTavish,
Craig Simpson, Charlie Huddy and others from that era leading the charge on this
particular "Cinderella Story." No one expected this team to get past the
first round, least of all the Detroit Red Wings. (sorry, Rainbow...life goes on...)
We'll begin with Amara, whose spectacular support of her Canadian husband's hockey
jones led to the images immediately below. We salute her considerable contributions
to the glory of our most sacred of national pastimes.
I have a busy week of
shooting, and there will be more models added. If the Oil get past the Poultry, this
could get ugly...
Let's hope, shall we?
Next we meet Ashton. This popular professional model harkens from the Left Coast,
and is an avid Canucks fan.
Since her team is out of the running, she is showing
her support for a Canadian cup by doffing her dud's for the Oil.
Her sacrifice
in the name of Canadian unity is noted, and appreciated...
Adrienne is a hometown Oilers fan. A fitness and bikini model, she borrows from her extensive atheletic background to bring an extra flair
to her work. She shares some of that flair with us, to root on the home team. I, for one, appreciate the spirit of contribution!
Mynxie is a big Oilers fan, and when she heard I was doing this project, wanted in. Her favourite player is Dwayne Roloson, the net minder,
who has, in my opinion, been the most valuable player in the playoffs so far. Mynxie concurs...
I had the distinct pleasure of shooting with Carrie during the day before game 5 of the Duck Hunt, and thought that she would be a fitting
celebrant for our first conference championship since 1990. Carrie is not much of a hockey fan, but appreciates how much Edmonton has electrified
since the run to the cup began. It feels so much like 1983.
The original premise of this gallery was to post a new model each time the Oilers won a game. I am pleased to celebrate a huge win in game 3 of the
final against the Hurricane. In celebration, I offer you Madeliene, who is bound to improve ANYONE's powerplay...
Madeleine is well known to regular viewers of my work, and is one of my favourite models. Enjoy.
